Laboratory Use Policy

Training

• If you are interested in training, please contact David Tavakoli (david.tavakoli@mse.gatech.edu).

• Access to the lab granted by sending an e-mail to (david.tavakoli@mse.gatech.edu) including your name and GT ID number.

Use/Costs

• Prior to actual use of the instrument, an Interdepartmental Sales and Service form must be completed. Interdepartmental Sales and Service Form  This form must include a valid Peoplesoft Project number, and a valid DocID number, with a dollar amount listed in the form.  The form must be signed by your departmental Finance Office.  Once completed, you can e-mail the form to David Tavakoli.

  • a FACES user account will not be granted until such form is received.

  • current users with "empty" accounts will have their access terminated.

  • laboratory use cost is $20/hour for student-run measurements.

  • laboratory use cost is $60/hour for measurements performed by the staff.

  • We certainly can and do outside research.  Outside users, please contact David Tavakoli directly for quotes.  Also check here to see what types of things we can do.

Lab Rules

• NO FOOD AND DRINK ALLOWED IN THE LABORATORY!!!

• Users are NOT allowed to remove ANYTHING from the laboratory.

• Users are NOT to reconfigure the instruments OR MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS!!!  The diffractometers are PRECISION, DELICATE instruments and realignment/adjustment MUST BE MADE BY A PROFESSIONAL!

• Users must dispose of their own samples BY TAKING THEM BACK TO THEIR LABORATORIES!!!
